2023

I came to the end of my traineeship with TRC and worked on a range of productions throughout the year. In between productions, I worked part time with Film Birmingham as an assistant, supporting shoots with finding locations and facilitating shoots in city council owned locations.

Our Lives: Ballroom Dreams (Jan - Feb 2023)

Production Type: Doc
Companies: Little Bird Films | BBC Wales
Production Manager: Val Croft
Role: Production Assistant

This was the last project I did as a production assistant/trainee on the rad Cymru scheme. I learned so much over the last few months and was so nice going out with this project. I helped set up our Albert, set up our workspace on google drive, set up call sheets for shoots, and supported the team with accessing hard drives.

U & I (May 2023)

Production Type: Visual Arts Installation
Companies: Eastside Projects
Artist: Natasha MacVoy
Role: Wig Knotter

This was the first full wig that I knotted for Natasha's exhibition. I extracted the hair from wefts and I spent about 4 weeks straight just knotting. I knotted directionally across the whole frame and the wig was later used in a short film, screened in Birmingham and Exeter.

Great British Menu S19 (Aug - Nov 2023)

Production Type: Competition
Company: Optomen | BBC 2
Production Manager:
 Jacob Moor
Role: Production Assistant, Waiter, Prod Coord sick cover

I started out on a work placement from my Production Management Bootcamp initially for a week during preproduction. I was then invited back as a Waiter on the busy Fridays and as a PA when needed. In between filming I would support the coordinators with contacting suppliers, petty cash handling, and updating call sheets.

Lost Boys & Fairies (April 2023)

Production Type: Scripted TV
Company: Duck Soup Films | BBC One | BBC Wales
Crowd Makeup Supervisor:
 Lynda Pearce
Role: Crowd Hair and Makeup Trainee

I supported the crowd team during their first week of shooting. I worked on a night shoot with a large crowd for two church scenes and an addicts anonymous meeting scene. The hair and makeup had to be period as it was for flashbacks. I helped get the crowd into chairs ready for makeup and I painted the womens nail's in neutrals.

Mark (Dec 2023 - 2 Days)

Production Type: Comedy Short Film
Companies: My Options Were Limited
Lead Makeup Artist: Penny Grimley
Role: Hair and Makeup Assistant

I volunteered as a makeup assistant for the Bridgend Youth Theatre's production of Sweeney Todd. I loved getting to apply stage makeup on these incredibly talented kids. I darkened their eyes and hollowed out their cheeks using eyeshadow to give the young actors a gothic look.
